Discover two prominent, radical innovators of their time, John Henry Newman (19th century) and Bl. John Duns Scotus (13th/14th century). The symposium is keyed as a timely follow-up to the beatification of Cardinal Newman in September 2010. They have complementary approaches to the basic questions of life — truth, knowledge, certitude, a metaphysics of being, reason, and faith. You are invited to join us in an exciting new area of research and dialogue which is attempting to retrieve from the thought of Newman and Scotus fresh insights into how the perennial wisdom interfaces with the contemporary world. The weekend symposium at the Nation's Capital will combine both lecture and discussion for an in-depth study and thought-provoking dialogue, ranging from onto-theology to modern empirical method to exegesis.
